Samepad apps

For Android, iPhone, Windows, macOS and Linux. The apps are a fast way into your Samepad account: they keep what you write and record, and nothing else.

Last updated October 6, 2026

What the apps collect

  • Your account name and email, used to sign you in and to show your name on ideas you publish.
  • The ideas you write, and the photos, screenshots, voice notes, recordings and videos you choose to save with them.
  • The name of the device you sign in on (for example "Android · Pixel 8"), so you can see and revoke it under Devices and keys.
  • Ideas you like, copy or report in Community, and the people you block.
  • Nothing else. The apps have no analytics, no crash reporters and no third-party SDKs that collect data.

Camera, microphone, screen and photos

  • The camera opens only when you take a photo for an idea, or when you record a reaction with your camera on.
  • The microphone records only while you record a voice note, take notes or record a reaction, and the system shows its microphone indicator the whole time.
  • Your screen is recorded only after you start a reaction, a screenshot or notes from your screen and accept the system's screen-recording prompt. It stops when you tap Stop.
  • Notes from what's playing hear the sound of the app that's playing (on Android) or the microphone, only while notes are running.
  • Photos you pick are the only ones the app can see; Samepad never browses your library. Reactions you save to your phone go to Photos (iPhone) or Movies (Android).
  • Photos are shrunk on your device before upload. Voice notes and recordings are converted to a compact format on our server.

Transcripts and summaries

  • Transcripts of your notes and reactions are made on your device: on Android by a speech model that runs on the phone, on iPhone and iPad by Apple's on-device speech recognition. Your recordings are not sent to a speech service.
  • On Android the speech model is downloaded once from eligapris.com. Nothing about you is sent with that download.
  • Summaries of your notes are made on your device too.

The floating bubble

  • When you turn it on, a small Samepad bubble (on iPhone, a Picture-in-Picture window) stays above other apps so you can write an idea. It doesn't read what's on your screen.
  • A screenshot is taken only when you tap Screenshot, and uploaded only if you save it.

What stays on your device

  • A copy of your recent ideas, so the app and widget open instantly and work offline. On Android this copy and your key are encrypted with a key held by Android Keystore; on iPhone your key is kept in the Keychain.
  • Ideas you write while offline wait on the device and are sent when you're back online.
  • Your theme choice, and device-only settings such as app lock.
  • On computers, your key is kept in a file only your user account can read — the same one the samepad command-line tool uses.

What is sent to Samepad

  • The ideas, photos, screenshots, voice notes, recordings and videos you save, over HTTPS to samepad.app, into your private history. Ideas are private unless you choose to share one on the web.
  • Your theme choice, so your other devices can follow it.
  • Samepad suggests titles and finds related ideas using a model that runs on Samepad's own servers. Your ideas are not sent to an outside AI service for this, and are never used to train models.

Community

  • The Community tab shows ideas other people chose to publish on samepad.app, with their name and picture. Your ideas only appear there if you publish them yourself, on samepad.app; the apps can't publish.
  • You can report an idea or block its author. A report is anonymous and we review it; you stop seeing the idea straight away. Blocked people's ideas no longer appear for you.

Sponsored cards

  • The free apps show one card marked Sponsored in your list of ideas, from Eligapris Ads.
  • Cards are fetched through samepad.app, so the ad network never sees your device, your account or your ideas. No advertising identifiers are used and nothing is personalised to you.
  • Samepad counts how many times a card is shown and tapped, without knowing who saw it.

What we never do

  • We do not sell your data, use it to target ads, or share it with third parties.
  • We do not track you across apps or websites.
  • The apps never read your contacts, location or files, or what other apps show, beyond the screen recordings you start yourself.

Your control

  • Edit or delete any idea at any time.
  • Sign out of a device from Settings: it sends anything unsynced, revokes that device's key, and removes your data from the device.
  • Turn on app lock, or keep ideas off the widget, the app switcher and screenshots, in Settings → Privacy & security.

Deleting your account

In any app: Settings → Delete account. On the web, or if you can't sign in, see samepad.app/delete-account. Deleting removes your account and every idea, photo, voice note, recording and video straight away; nothing is kept.
